This is a call to action to change the current UK mental healthcare model. There is an accompanying petition calling for community-led mental healthcare, which you can sign here.
If it gets 100,000 signatures, it will be discussed in Parliament.



WE NEED:

COMMUNITY-LED, LIBERATORY CARE STRUCTURES THAT DO NOT CAUSE FURTHER HARM OR VIOLENCE

NOURISHING, SUSTAINABLE RESOURCES AND A RETURN TO ANTICAPITALIST ANCESTRAL PRACTICES

RECOGNITION OF THE STRUCTURAL VIOLENCE SIGNIFICANTLY IMPACTING WELLBEING, EG. RACISM, ABLEISM, MISOGYNY AND TRANSPHOBIA

TO END ALL PUNITIVE BARRIERS TO CARE BASED ON SUBSTANCE MISUSE, HOUSING INSTABILITY, MIGRATION STATUS, OR OTHER FACTORS THAT HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH A PERSON’S NEED FOR CARE

TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE LONG-TERM IMPACT OF GROWING UP IN FOSTER CARE, INCLUDING EFFECTS ON MENTAL HEALTH, FINANCIAL STABILITY AND HOUSING ACCESS. PROVIDE LIFELONG FINANCIAL RESOURCES AND WELLBEING SUPPORT FOR ALL CARE LEAVERS
